We are expanding a dedicated credit control service line and are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to support international professional services clients with billing, collections, and lock-up management.

Role Overview

This role sits at the centre of the revenue cycle and is responsible for ensuring invoices are issued accurately, outstanding balances are proactively managed, and strong working relationships are maintained with both clients and internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have experience in credit control within an accountancy or professional services environment, be confident engaging with senior stakeholders, and bring a structured, detail-driven approach to managing debtor portfolios.

Role Details

  • Location: Johannesburg (office-based with hybrid flexibility)

  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Working Hours: UK hours alignment

  • Compensation: Competitive monthly salary, aligned to experience and market benchmarks

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate billing and client contact information within Practice Engine

  • Ensure invoices are raised and issued in line with agreed billing schedules

  • Generate and issue 14-day chasers and debtor statements

  • Proactively follow up on overdue balances via email and other communication channels

  • Resolve billing and payment queries in collaboration with internal teams

  • Prepare weekly lock-up reports for large clients and group entities

  • Participate in lock-up review meetings with Client Leads and Partners

  • Monitor debtor performance and escalate risks where appropriate

  • Undertake WIP analysis against defined trigger points (future responsibility)

  • Support the ongoing improvement of billing and credit control processes

What Were Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Credit Controller, ideally within:

    • Accountancy firms

    • Legal, consulting, or professional services environments

  • Strong understanding of billing cycles, debtor management, and lock-up

  • Confident, professional communicator with strong negotiation skills

  • Highly organised, methodical, and detail-oriented

  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with finance systems

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with wider teams

  • Relevant finance, accounting, or credit management qualification advantageous but not essential
