Veterinary Surgeon Job Description

Experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

One of our client's vets is moving overseas, so they are looking for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon who is keen to become a part of their great team. This practice offers a high ratio of nurse to vet support, allowing patients the best care possible and enabling you, as the vet, to work up your cases to the best possible level without constraint.

The Practice

The practice has a large and loyal client following which provides a wide breadth of case material across a range of small animal species. It is a modern, purpose-built, and fully equipped practice with:

  • Digital x-ray
  • Dental x-ray
  • Laparoscopy
  • Ultrasound
  • Full in-house lab
  • Separate dog, cat, and exotics kennel wards
  • Fully equipped operating theatre

We are growing continuously and seeing a variety of interesting surgical and medical cases. We are now looking for a veterinary surgeon to join our existing team which includes:

  • 3 veterinary surgeons
  • 8 qualified veterinary nurses
  • 1 trainee veterinary nurse
  • 1 veterinary nursing assistant
  • 4 receptionists

All supported by the clinical and admin Team Leaders, offering an amazing and somewhat unique supportive environment to learn a multitude of new skills and knowledge. We are passionate about the development of our team, encouraging colleagues to undertake training, with a generous CPD allowance and the opportunity to have certificates funded!

The practice runs on 3 vets per day, with 2 vets consulting and 1 vet dedicated to surgery. The position can be part-time hours or even weekends only, with no OOH. We hope you’ll enjoy a rota that suits your lifestyle.

We understand that work-life balance is important, so we offer a flexible rota if desired, 15-minute consults as standard with “catch up” time built into the diary, a protected lunch break, and dedicated admin time for your telephone calls, etc.

Our Offer

In addition to a rewarding role in a superb location, offering a slice of rural living and commutable from lovely south-west towns, you can expect to receive:

  • Salary up to £65,000 (fte) commensurate with experience
  • 6.6 weeks holiday
