Job Summary

The Cost Accounting Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely reporting of cost of sales and inventory across GBPI plants and toll manufacturing affiliates. This position involves detailed analysis, reconciliation, and reporting to support decision-making processes. Additionally, the role assists in supervising the cost accounting team and upholding company policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting Functions

  • Consolidation and Reporting: Prepare and consolidate cost of sales and inventory reports for raw materials and packaging materials (RMPM) across all GBPI plants and toll manufacturers.
  • Variance Analysis: Analyze and validate consumption and inventory reports, highlighting significant variances for resolution.
  • Journal Review: Review and approve journal entries related to cost of sales, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Cost Analysis: Prepare monthly cost analysis reports and compute average product costs to support financial planning.
  • Toll Manufacturer Monitoring: Review toll fee billings and evaluate production reports, including Gross Profit (GP), cripples, exchange reports, and bread allocations for GBPI and toll manufacturers.
  • Inventory Oversight: Supervise and participate in month-end, quarterly, and year-end physical inventory counts for RMPM, spare parts, consumables, trade items, and finished goods.
  • Disposal Cost Review: Validate costs related to the disposal of RMPM, spare parts, consumables, and finished goods.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Management Reporting: Assist in preparing and reviewing the monthly Management Reporting Package (MRP).
  • Budget Preparation: Support the cost section in budgeting and forecasting processes.

General and Administrative Duties

  • Safety and Compliance: Actively participate in safety, health, and environmental programs while promoting adherence to good housekeeping practices.
  • Resource Accountability: Maintain responsibility for company-provided equipment and materials.
  • Other Tasks: Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education and Training

  • Bachelors degree in Accountancy or equivalent.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Oracle systems is an advantage.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge in:
    • Preparation and analysis of financial statements.
    • Cost of sales and inventory reconciliation.

Additional Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with ISO, HACCP, and HALAL standards is preferred.
