Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-quality edible oils, committed to producing products that meet the highest industry standards. As they continue to expand, they are looking for a dedicated and proactive EHS Officer to join their team and drive the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
Job Summary:
The EHS Officer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, fostering a culture of safety within the organization, and driving continuous improvement in EHS performance. This role will involve implementing and maintaining EHS programs, ensuring adherence to ISO standards, conducting regular safety audits, and promoting a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs across the manufacturing facility.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO FSSC 22000, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and environmental impact assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide regular safety training and awareness programs to employees at all levels of the organization, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Monitor and report on key EHS performance indicators, and assist in the development of strategies for continuous improvement.
- Investigate and report on accidents, near misses, and incidents, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors during inspections and audits, ensuring timely and effective resolutions of any non-compliance issues.
- Lead and coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring readiness in the event of an incident.
- Support the implementation of food safety protocols, particularly related to manufacturing and production processes.
- Promote a proactive EHS culture within the organization by encouraging employee involvement and ownership of safety practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A Diploma or Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on EHS within the manufacturing or food industry. Experience in food safety will be an added advantage.
- NEBOSH certification or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO FSSC 22000, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex EHS challenges.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
