Job Summary:
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring seamless guest experiences while effectively managing staff, resources, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership, financial management, and a hands-on approach to delivering high-quality service standards in the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Ensure an outstanding guest experience through continuous service quality improvement.
  • Address guest complaints professionally, resolve issues promptly, and ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Analyze guest feedback and implement necessary actions to improve service standards.

Staff Management & Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of key departments: Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development efforts to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, offer mentorship, and foster a positive work environment.

Operational Efficiency & Cost Control

  • Oversee hotel budgeting, expense monitoring, and cost-control strategies.
  • Implement effective procurement, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Develop and optimize operational workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to Tanzanian hospitality regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental policies.
  • Maintain security protocols and emergency response measures for the safety of guests and staff.

Sales & Marketing Collaboration

  • Partner with the marketing team to develop strategies that increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Assist in the development and execution of promotions, events, and local partnerships.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with tour operators, corporate clients, and travel agencies.

Maintenance & Facility Management

  • Ensure that hotel facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to address any technical or operational issues proactively.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel operations management, preferably in East Africa.
  • Proven leadership, team management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to the fast-paced dynamics of the hospitality industry.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in hotel or lodge management within Tanzania or East Africa is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Tanzanian tourism trends and guest expectations.
