Job Summary:
Our client, a premier tourism and hospitality company operating luxury hotels and wild camps in Karatu, Ngorongoro and Serengeti, is seeking a highly skilled and results-oriented Human Resource Manager. The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all HR functions to attract, develop, and retain top talent, supporting the company's mission of delivering exceptional guest experiences in Tanzania's wilderness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Staffing
- Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract top candidates for various positions.
- Manage the full recruitment process: job postings, screening, interviews, hiring, and onboarding.
- Ensure hiring aligns with the company's values and culture, ensuring competent and motivated staff.
2. Employee Relations
- Foster a positive work environment promoting open communication, teamwork, and engagement.
- Address employee grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary issues promptly and fairly.
- Conduct regular employee feedback sessions and initiate programs to improve satisfaction and morale.
3. Training and Development
- Identify skill gaps and design comprehensive training programs to enhance employee performance.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and on-the-job training to ensure staff delivers exceptional service.
- Continuously evaluate training programs effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary.
4. Performance Management
- Develop and implement performance appraisal systems to assess both individual and team performance.
- Provide coaching and support to managers and supervisors in performance management.
- Recognize and reward high-performing employees to boost morale and retention.
5. Compensation and Benefits
- Oversee competitive compensation and benefits package design, implementation, and administration.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations related to wages, working hours, and employee rights.
- Conduct market surveys regularly to ensure competitive compensation offerings.
6. HR Policies and Compliance
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies in compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and international best practices.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and labor regulations across all company locations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in line with data protection standards.
7. Workforce Planning
- Collaborate with department heads to forecast staffing needs and plan for seasonal industry fluctuations.
- Implement strategies to manage workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion.
8. Employee Welfare
- Oversee and enhance employee welfare programs, including housing, transportation, and health benefits.
- Ensure the well-being of employees working in remote locations (Ngorongoro and Serengeti), supporting their work-life balance.
9. HR Reporting and Analytics
- Prepare and present regular HR reports to senior management, including turnover rates, recruitment metrics, training outcomes, and employee engagement.
- Use HR analytics to drive data-driven decisions and optimize HR processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Masters degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, in tourism, hospitality, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labor laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to thrive in remote, challenging environments.
- Fluency in both English and Swahili is required.
