Gross Salary: KES 400,000

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Sportsbook Product Lead to drive the operational excellence, performance, and growth of our sportsbook offering across Kenya and other African markets.

This role is ideal for a sportsbook professional who combines strong operational expertise with leadership capability. The successful candidate will not only lead and develop operational teams but will also remain actively involved in sportsbook execution, market performance, product enhancements, trading operations, and customer experience optimization.

The Sportsbook Product Lead will serve as a key link between Product, Trading, Marketing, Technology, BI, CRM, and Customer Experience teams to ensure the sportsbook remains competitive, compliant, and customer-centric while delivering commercial results.

Key Responsibilities

Sportsbook Operations & Execution

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day sportsbook operation, ensuring smooth market availability, accurate settlement, pricing integrity, and optimal customer experience.
  • Actively monitor sportsbook performance, betting activity, market behaviour, and operational workflows.
  • Support and oversee market creation, event configuration, settlement processes, and operational quality controls.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, escalations, and customer-impacting incidents in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with trading and data providers to ensure timely and accurate odds, fixtures, and settlement data.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of sportsbook mechanics, betting markets, customer behaviour, and product performance.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Resulting and UAT teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, coaching, and support while maintaining accountability for team performance.
  • Establish clear operational standards, processes, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, collaboration, and attention to detail.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members.

Product & Customer Experience

  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to improve sportsbook functionality, usability, and customer experience.
  • Participate actively in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and release validation to ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sportsbook journeys, bet placement flows, settlement experiences, and customer engagement.
  • Support the rollout of new sports, leagues, betting markets, features, and product enhancements.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations based on customer feedback, operational insights, and market trends.

Commercial Performance & Analytics

  • Monitor and analyse sportsbook KPIs including turnover, GGR, margin, active users, bet volumes, retention, and customer engagement.
  • Identify growth opportunities through product enhancements, market expansion, promotional initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support the planning and execution of sportsbook campaigns, promotions, gamification initiatives, and loyalty programs.
  • Produce actionable insights and recommendations based on customer behaviour, performance trends, and competitive analysis.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure sportsbook operations remain fully compliant with all regulatory, licensing, and responsible gaming requirements.
  • Monitor operational risks and implement controls to protect business integrity.
  • Conduct regular audits of sportsbook processes, settlement accuracy, and reporting standards.
  • Stay informed on regulatory developments and industry changes across all operating markets.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary operational liaison between Product, Trading, Marketing, CRM, BI, Technology, Customer Experience, Compliance, and external suppliers.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify operational gaps and implement practical solutions.
  • Communicate operational performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sportsbook operations, trading, product operations, or sportsbook product management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams while remaining actively involved in operational execution. 
  • Strong understanding of sportsbook trading principles, betting markets, odds management, settlement processes, and risk exposure.
  • Knowledge of betting behaviour and sportsbook trends within Kenya and African markets.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in Excel, BI tools, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience working with third-party trading providers and sportsbook platforms.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and responsible gaming frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational involvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset.
  • Passion for sports, betting products, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
