Description
The client is seeking a School Counselor to join its growing faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. Must be comfortable being in person on campus with students.
Qualifications
- Masters degree (or higher) in school counseling/guidance or education.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Gifted Endorsement is a plus.
- Experience with social-emotional learning curriculum is recommended.
- Ability to work across various academic disciplines.
- Strong dedication to supporting student success.
- Passionate about education.
- Experience in private, independent schools is a plus.
- Forward-thinking and up-to-date with best practices.
- Solution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Support students social-emotional development through individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction.
- Lead professional development sessions on social-emotional learning for faculty.
- Provide educational resources and guidance to parents.
- Assist with after-school and enrichment programs for students.
- Understand the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted and diverse learners.
- Oversee student support services, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and gifted education.
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents, coordinating and facilitating meetings.
- Collect necessary input from parents, teachers, learning specialists, guidance counselors, and other professionals in preparation for parent meetings.
- Monitor students' academic and social-emotional progress.
- Lead the creation of materials to address the academic and social needs of specific learners.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth as a lifelong learner.
- Build strong working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
- Refer students for academic/psychological testing or personal and family counseling as needed.
- Address faculty concerns and provide support for individual student issues.
- Coordinate standardized testing.
