Job description

The client is seeking an energetic and creative Middle School & High School Language Arts Teacher to join our growing faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. Must be comfortable being in person on campus with students.

Essential skills and experience

  • Hold a bachelors degree in English or a related field from an accredited college or university with teaching credentials. A masters degree and teaching certificate (preferred).
  • Have 2-3 years in a lead teacher role, preferably in Language Arts at the middle school and high school level.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Deep dedication to learning and developing as an educator.
  • Collaborative work style paired with the ability to take initiative.
  • Strong classroom management skills and expertise in differentiating instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a Language Arts curriculum aimed at fostering strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, while exposing students to diverse literature from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.
  • Assist 8th grade students in exploring high school options, including writing letters of recommendation.
  • Design and execute a culturally responsive curriculum for either a middle school and high school arts elective or advisory class, catering to students at different levels from grades 6 to 12. This involves creating lesson plans, selecting appropriate teaching materials, and preparing the classroom for activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to develop curricula and enhance teaching strategies.
  • Continuously assess student progress through observations, evaluations, assignments, and tests, offering timely and constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Maintain regular communication with relevant staff (learning support specialists, counselors, principals) and parents regarding student progress.
  • Establish and maintain school rules with a positive approach and strong classroom management skills.
  • Attend school, departmental, team, and parent meetings.
  • Participate in non-classroom events such as Back to School Nights, parent/student conferences, retreats, faculty meetings, field trips, and special performances.
  • Stay current with new classroom technologies, teaching resources, and instructional methods, adapting to incorporate these developments into lessons and activities.
  • Prioritize student health and safety.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by school administration.
