Position: Senior Data Architect (Telecom / OEM Specialist)
Department: Enterprise Architecture & Data Solutions
Location: Hybrid – Basking Ridge, NJ / Richardson, TX (3 days onsite)
Type: 12+ Month Contract
Reports To: Director of Enterprise Architecture
Travel: Up to 10% (for client workshops and integration reviews)

Interview Process Overview

1. Stage 1: FuntoNetwork Technical Screen – 60-minute video call with our internal architect.
2. Stage 2: Client Technical / Team Interview – 60-90 minute deep-dive with the client's technical team.
3. Stage 3: Client Leadership Interview – 45-60 minute strategic fit interview with client leadership.

Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Data Architect with deep telecommunications expertise and direct OEM-side development experience (Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson, Ciena, Cisco, etc.). This role will design and oversee enterprise-grade data architectures, with a special focus on data pipeline optimization, embedded analytics, and AI integration within telecom OSS/BSS environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership experience, hands-on familiarity with CPU-level data/analytics threading, and a proven ability to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture Leadership: Design end-to-end data solutions for telecom OSS/Service Fulfillment/Service Assurance domains, ensuring integrity, security, availability, and scalability.
• OEM & Embedded Systems Focus: Leverage hands-on OEM development experience to architect data pipelines, analytics layers, and AI-embedded solutions optimized for telecom hardware and software ecosystems.
• Data & AI Strategy: Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and data scientists to build future-proof data landscapes that support operational, analytical, and AI/ML-driven initiatives.
• Cloud & Modern Data Platforms: Design and migrate solutions to cloud data platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), incorporating microservices, containerization (K8s/Docker), and event-driven architectures.
• Standards & Governance: Apply strong knowledge of TM Forum frameworks, MEF standards, and SID models to ensure industry compliance and interoperability.
• Team Guidance & Mentorship: Lead design teams, make critical architecture decisions, and foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Solution Delivery: Translate complex customer requirements into production-grade, high-performance data solutions within large-scale digital transformation programs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 10+ years in solution design, technology transformation, and OSS/BSS architecture within the telecom industry.
• OEM Development Background: Must have direct development experience from an OEM environment (Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson, Ciena, Cisco, or similar).
• Technical Expertise:
  • Data pipeline architecture & embedded analytics/AI integration
  • Understanding of CPU-level data/analytics threading and optimization
  • Cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Enterprise integration patterns, API frameworks, and event-driven architectures
  • Microservices, K8s/Docker, and modern data platform concepts
• Telecom Knowledge: Strong familiarity with TM Forum frameworks, MEF standards, SID, and core telecom processes (provisioning, assurance, order management).
• Leadership: 5+ years leading design teams and guiding technical delivery.
• Communication: Excellent ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelors degree required; Masters in Telecom Engineering preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in data architecture, cloud technologies, or telecom frameworks (TM Forum).
• Experience in large-scale digital transformation programs within telecom.
• Published thought leadership or contributions to telecom architecture standards.
