Position Overview
We're looking for a Backend/Integration Developer who specializes in connecting government websites with legacy systems, payment processors, databases, and third-party services. This role requires understanding of government data security, API management, and system architecture for public sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate government websites with legacy systems and databases
- Develop and secure APIs for government data exchange
- Implement payment processing systems (tax payments, utility bills, fines)
- Connect websites with GIS systems, permitting software, 311 systems
- Ensure data security and compliance with CJIS, HIPAA, FERPA as needed
- Migrate legacy government systems to modern platforms
- Implement single sign-on (SSO) for government employee portals
- Create data import/export tools for public records compliance
Required Experience
- 4+ years backend development with government systems
- Experience with government payment processors (NIC, Tyler Technologies, etc.)
- Knowledge of government database systems (often Oracle, SQL Server)
- Experience with GIS integration (ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Understanding of government authentication systems (Login.gov, state-specific)
- Experience with legacy system modernization
- Must be U.S. citizen (required for certain government systems)
Technical Requirements
- Backend: Node.js, Python, PHP, Java
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server
- APIs: REST, SOAP (common in government), GraphQL
- Security: OAuth, SAML, encryption at rest/transit
- Cloud: AWS/Azure Government, GovCloud
- DevOps: Docker, CI/CD for government environments
Specific Government System Experience Needed (Choose 2+):
- Payment processors for governments
- Permitting/licensing systems
- 311/CRM systems (Salesforce Government Cloud)
- Financial systems (ERP integration)
- Voter/election systems
- Student information systems (for universities)
Security Clearance Requirements
- Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance (minimum)
- Some projects may require higher clearance levels
- Clean background check required
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $110,000 - $150,000 + clearance bonuses
