Job Summary:

The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing various human resources functions, including recruitment, industrial relations, performance management, training and development, employee engagement, and compliance with labour laws. The role will support the engineering and security divisions by implementing HR strategies that align with business objectives and enhance workforce effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for technical, security, and administrative roles.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to attract skilled professionals.
  • Conduct interviews, assessments, and background verifications.
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires.

2. Industrial Relations & Compliance:

  • Provide guidance on labour law compliance, including BCEA, LRA, and EEA.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Represent the company in CCMA and union negotiations when required.
  • Maintain and update HR policies to ensure compliance with industry regulations.

3. Performance Management & Employee Engagement:

  • Coordinate performance review processes and provide coaching to managers.
  • Assist in developing career development plans and succession planning.
  • Promote a positive work culture through employee engagement initiatives.
  • Address workplace challenges and enhance employee relations.

4. Training & Development:

  • Identify training needs and coordinate learning programs for employees.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific training requirements for engineering and security teams.
  • Work with SETAs for skills development initiatives and discretionary grant applications.

5. HR Administration & Systems:

  • Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, and personnel files.
  • Oversee payroll inputs, leave management, and employee benefits administration.
  • Utilize HR systems to track and report on key HR metrics.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in the engineering or security sector.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience in handling industrial relations, CCMA cases, and union engagements.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and recruitment tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
