  • NV2 Security Clearance essential
  • Canberra based, 5 days onsite
  • Experience in Defence/Government preferred

We are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to shape secure, resilient networks for our Defence client owning the process from inception to delivery across multiple environments, multiple technology stacks and across multiple security requirements PROT, SEC and Coalition.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-availability network infrastructures.
  • Manage and optimise enterprise routing and switching environments across Cisco and Dell platforms.
  • Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement proactive improvements.
  • Support firewall administration, segmentation design, and secure connectivity solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex network problems across multi-site, mission-critical environments.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Maintain documentation, network diagrams, and configuration standards.
  • Contribute to upgrades, migrations, and network refresh projects.
  • Management of vendors (Cisco, Palo Alto etc)

Requirements:

  • NV2 Security Clearance essential
  • 10+ years experience as a Network Engineer in Defence or government environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco networking technologies (routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Proven capability in BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and secure network design.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network environments with both on-prem and hybrid components.
  • Understanding of government security principles, ISM, and operational processes (desirable).
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in Azure networking highly desirable
