About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager with minimum NV1/NV2 security clearance to be responsible role in defining, documenting, and executing small projects or sub-projects to achieve business objectives. You will work alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases of the project lifecycle. Success in this role requires strong project management skills, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget. helping clients improve their security defenses.


Work description:

    • Technical Project Managers are required to deliver ICT/construction project (overseas or domestically) and engage with the DFAT Overseas Property Office and Diplomatic Security Branch to ensure the required components of the project come together in the delivery phase. Technical PMs manage projects that are constrained by budget and delivery timeframes and are responsible for technical layout, procurement, logistics and delivery of the ICT fit-out project. Technical Project Managers will have three main areas of focus, these include client relationship management, day-to-day project management and technical/logistics. Project closure and wrap-up will also be delivered. While these projects are in the delivery phase, the Technical PM will be required to travel to a site to identify any issues with construction, logistics and ICT risks as well as leading the delivery team to complete the ICT fitout. Other parts of the role include hands-on construction.

    • Involved in running and terminating backbone copper and fibre, installing equipment into racks and completing basic hands-on construction tasks. Their daily tasking can include but is not limited to understanding and marking up technical drawings such as rack layouts, copper and fibre cable runs and building services drawings.

    • Work under general direction and can undertake very complex work and have the opportunity to work with autonomy and accountability. They will have initiative and exercise judgement in the interpretation of policy and application of practices and procedures. They will have a considerable level of contact with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role. Work may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows.

    • Proactive and able to establish good networks across the department to drive project deliverables. The Technical PM will have a good understanding of project delivery practices and experience in delivering in government, or private sector roles, have a strong project management background and/or technical background in network/server/data cabling or trades (such as construction, electrical, data cabling), stakeholder and relationships management, administrational (including basic finances) and organizational skills

    • The use of tools and understanding technical drawings as their daily tasking can include but is not limited understanding and marking up technical drawings such as rack layouts, copper and fiber cable runs, building services drawings. Other desirable attributes include strong project management background and/or technical background in network/server/data cabling or trades (such as construction, electrical, data cabling), excellent stakeholder and relationships management, strong administrational (including basic finances) and organisational skills

    • Prince II (waterfall) or Agile processes are desirable, understanding of government projects is desirable, additional skills of working on technical projects or having a background in server/network/data cabling/ data centres etc. is highly desirable. Experience in Government, infrastructure or ICT projects, or trades is also highly desirable.
