About the role
We are seeking a Java Developer to design and deliver scalable, cloud-native data integration solutions. The role requires expertise in Talend Cloud, AWS, and Java, along with the ability to contribute architecture decisions and lead if required. This role offers hybrid working.
Location: Sydney preferred but flexible across Australia
Key Responsibilities
Primary duties include:
- Lead end-to-end Talend Cloud data integration architecture and implementation
- Design, develop, and deploy ETL/ELT pipelines using Talend Cloud Data Integration
- Experience with Talend Cloud Management Console (TMC), environments, and task orchestration
- Integrate Talend Cloud with AWS services (S3, RDS, Lambda, EC2)
- Develop and optimize Java-based custom routines and Talend components
- Establish best practices for cloud security, performance tuning, and cost optimization
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in Talend Cloud
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for Talend jobs and cloud deployments
- Define data quality, governance, and metadata management standards
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews
Requirements and Experience
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or ETL development
- Strong hands-on experience with Talend Cloud (DI, TMC, Remote Engines)
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services
- Advanced proficiency in Java (custom routines, performance tuning)
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and cloud databases
- Experience with REST APIs, SaaS integrations, and file-based processing
- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, and DevOps best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Talend Data Quality / Talend Data Preparation
- Knowledge of Talend Cloud API Services
- Experience with Spring Boot / Microservices
- Exposure to Big Data or streaming platforms
- AWS or Talend certifications
Desired skills
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and architecture discussions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset
