Are you an experienced Commercial Lawyer passionate about technology and driving business success? Fujitsu is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic Legal & Reputation team in Melbourne. This essential role provides critical commercial support across nominated market segments and customer accounts.
The Opportunity
As a Legal Counsel, you will be a key player in supporting decision-making on customer transactions and managing commercial activities. You will translate complex legal concepts into clear commercial outcomes, ensuring our growth is compliant and risk-managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate diverse commercial agreements, including tenders and customer contracts.
- Provide essential legal support on new business opportunities and customer transactions.
- Advise the business on legal risk and ensure strict alignment with internal policy and legal compliance.
- Support the resolution of contractual issues or disputes.
- Contribute to the development of terms that balance customer needs with business objectives.
- Increase value contribution through collaborative teamwork and supporting digital initiatives within the Legal team.
- Take ownership of matters, independently managing complex workloads, and contributing to team knowledge and innovation.
What You'll Bring
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience:
- Law degree and a current legal practising certificate or eligibility for one.
- Typically 5+ years of experience in a commercial/legal role, with a minimum of 3-4 years in commercial/contract law (private practice or in-house).
- Thorough knowledge of deal structures, contract structures, and schedules.
- Ability to translate the impact of negotiated terms on P&L and project delivery risk.
- Good, continuously developing legal and Risk Management skills.
- Knowledge of the Competition and Consumer Act and Corporations law requirements.
- Must be an Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen.
Highly Desired Experience:
- Experience in IT law and/or IT contracts is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of Pricing Structures & Methodologies.
