Job Overview
The ServiceNow Developer will assist in the development and maintenance of ServiceNow applications, integrations, and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in ServiceNow development, will be proficient in scripting, and will work closely with various teams to ensure that business requirements are met through the ServiceNow platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and configure ServiceNow applications and modules including ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, or other relevant capabilities
- Build and customise:
- Forms, workflows, catalog items, and UI components
- Business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and integrations
- Develop and maintain server-side and client-side scripts to extend platform functionality
- Configure automation, notifications, and service request workflows
- Ensure solutions align with out-of-the-box capabilities, best practices, and upgrade-safe design
- Support platform operations and BAU activities, including:
- Troubleshooting incidents and defects
- Performing root cause analysis
- Resolving performance issues
- Participate in ServiceNow upgrades and releases, including testing and impact assessments
- Collaborate with stakeholders to:
- Gather and refine requirements
- Translate business needs into technical solutions
- Maintain clear technical documentation, including design, configuration, and support processes
- Ensure adherence to security, access control, and governance standards
Skills & Experience Required:
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow development and configuration
- Experience with:
- JavaScript, Glide APIs, REST/SOAP integrations
- Workflow Editor / Flow Designer
- Service Catalog and scripting
- Exposure to ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, or CMDB
- Understanding of role-based access control and platform security
- Experience with integration tools and APIs
Platform & Process Knowledge
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Request)
- Experience supporting platform operations, releases, and upgrades
- Knowledge of data modelling, CMDB, or service configuration (desirable)
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing capability
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- Experience working in enterprise or government environments
- Exposure to Agile delivery models
