Job Summary:
Seeking experienced attorneys to manage the legal defense of workers compensation claims from inception through final resolution. This role involves litigation, client interaction, and case management within a remote work environment, supporting insurance carriers and self-insured employers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate effectively on behalf of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers
  • Draft pleadings, prepare correspondence, and negotiate settlements for workers compensation cases
  • Conduct court appearances, manage litigation calendars, and perform depositions and cross-examinations
  • Negotiate lien claims and proactively manage case progress to meet deadlines
  • Supervise and mentor legal assistants to ensure efficient case support
  • Maintain and foster strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and vendors
  • Participate in marketing efforts and client training seminars on workers compensation case law
  • Input and update case information in PracticeMaster and billing software systems

Qualifications:

  • Active California Bar License (Required)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing workers compensation law, either on the plaintiff or defense side
  • Proven ability to handle full lifecycle workers compensation cases, including discovery, litigation, and settlement negotiations
  • Strong knowledge of California workers compensation law and case management practices
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate with cross-functional teams
