Job Summary:
Client is seeking a Weld Engineer for its Middletown facility. This role is responsible for developing welding techniques, procedures, and the application of welding equipment to address fabrication challenges involving various metals. The Weld Engineer plays a key role in process development, equipment evaluation, and the overall success of the weld department in meeting industry and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development to improve or create welding methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Prepare technical reports from R&D and preventive maintenance investigations.
- Establish welding procedures to meet complex specifications and material processing requirements.
- Evaluate new welding technologies for potential integration into production.
- Direct inspections and testing to ensure compliance with welding standards and specifications.

Provide technical consultation to internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and support experimental welding efforts.
- Ensure department compliance with NADCAP and customer requirements; lead weld audits.
- Recommend and manage capital equipment acquisitions for the weld area.
- Train and certify welders, operators, and inspectors, maintaining proper documentation with HR.
- Analyze engineering designs for welding needs and review related documentation
- Manage weld procedure qualifications and support manufacturing and welding teams.
- Conduct root cause analyses and corrective actions for welding-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing sector.
- Strong expertise in semi-automated GTAW weld processes; experience with resistance and laser welding is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with knowledge of basic algebra and geometry.
- Experience with creating and interpreting technical documents, reports, and welding procedures.
- Ability to lead teams and train personnel in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to function in both office and plant settings, with occasional physical activity including walking and standing.
