The purpose of this position
Reliability Engineers are key to minimizing equipment downtime, mitigate risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations, optimizing life cycle costs, and enhancing equipment availability to achieve increased production. The RE must be capable of analyzing conditions, performing technical troubleshooting, and identifying the root cause(s). The role provides leadership and guidance for effective Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Team processes for continuous improvements designed for maintenance activities and operation of area equipment. Develop optimized operation & maintenance strategies for plant equipment based on Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and other reliability methodologies, facilitate root cause analysis, recommend design changes determined by RCM studies, prioritize and eliminate defects, develop critical spare parts lists and analyze data to determine economic benefits and to prioritize the effort. Reliability Engineers document and oversee mitigation and intervention of identified issues to ensure that the temporary/permanent resolution is planned, scheduled, and implemented. Develop dashboards and KPIs to measure plant performances.
The key duties and responsibilities of this position:
- Develop and lead predictive/preventive maintenance program. Measures and reports on the effectiveness of the program.
- Conduct root cause analyses to understand, prioritize, and address maintenance equipment failures.
- Analyze the results of PdM programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop mechanical requirements for plant shutdowns and participate in required field inspections.
- Provide liaison with production and preventive maintenance group.
- Provide support for equipment improvements and maintenance procedure upgrades.
- Assure plant compliance with OSHA and regulations.
- Recommend additional data requirements to assist production and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain required performance tracking programs for production and maintenance departments and alert management on performance data trends.
- Draft failure mode and effect analysis sheets to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.
- Enhance skills, performance, and development of all employees by sponsoring and promoting training programs so that adherence to specifications is ensured and work of the highest quality prevails.
- Maintain a safe work environment by administering a proactive environmental, health and safety program oriented towards maintenance activities and zero accidents.
- Support to develop maintenance strategy in capital project to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
- Develop standardization programs, which influences materials, equipment, and spare parts
- Support to address strategic long term problems/issues that has impact the organization.
- Support to provide engineering recommendation to mitigate repetitive failures and problems that adversely affect plant availability, performance, capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance

- Play a key role in sustaining and improving reliability, availability and maintainability targets. This is ensured by optimized operation and maintenance strategies, continous improvement, and also enhance skills and development of all employees.
- Develop and maintain reliability and performance data without historical data. Utilize reliability engineering methods to identify bad actors, understand the problems and alert to management
The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical Engineering preferred.
- Computer literacy in MS Office Suite is required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Mining/ Metals Processing facility in engineering, or maintenance preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
- Must be able to lead a cross functional team and possess a drive for continuous improvement.
- Must be able to train and mentor others.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must be certified by CMRP as a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or become certified within 18 months.
- Desirable certifications include vibration, thermography, lubrication, and oil analysis.
- Polished communication and administrative skills are a must.
