Provide data and information regarding environmental related condition as assigned, which will be used in further analysis, in order to support superior recommendation and decision.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  1. Observe, measure, record, and compile environmental facts in the areas assigned, for use by the company.
  2. Fill out routine Environmental Department approved mapping, sampling and logging data forms to record environmental data for database input in line with Company's SOP.
  3. Perform regular quality control checks of data entry, drafting, modeling, and other work to ensure the products in the areas assigned are accurate, consistent and complete.
  4. Provide and submit periodical report (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually) including data review and analysis to superior, which can be used as foundation for decision-making.
  5. Report observation on the environment in written formats as required, so that this information can be included in further compilation and interpretation of the data and so that company records are maintained for the future.
  6. Understand and be aware of safety and environmental practices in the work area ensuring safe work practices within the group and compliance with company Safety and Environmental SOP.

The key challenges in this position include:

  • Knowing what, how much and when to collect data so that goals and targets are reached; Collection and accurate and consistent environmental data, in locations that range from field to laboratories, that can be used to increase the company's knowledge of the area being investigated.
  • The collection and compilation of consistent, accurate, and factual environmental data in this position is vital to the further interpretation and modeling of the data for determination of impact management plans and procedures for the company.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (S1) in an environmental related science with at least 5 years working experience in the environmental science industry (mining and/or industrial). 
  • Master's degree (S2) in Oceanography with strong experience in mining industry is preferred.

  • Thorough and comprehensive understanding of the theories and principles of environmental science.
  • Good ability in environmental observation, mapping, sampling, recording and logging techniques.
  • Good communication skill.

  • Specific skill and competency:
  •  Mastering Ocean Modelling: Sea-surface Modeling System (SMS), Advance Circulation (ADCIRC), MIKE-DHI Flow Model, Spectral Wave, Tide Forecast Analyst, Ocean Data View (ODV)
    • Mastering Mapping GIS : ArcGIS, ArGIs Pro, AGISOFT Photo scan, Map Lay outing, NDVI analyst, Spatial analyst, Unsupervised (cluster) and raster analyst, Drone Imagery
    • Mastering Oceanography instrumentation and able to operate: ADCP/ADP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profile), Current Meter, Automatic Tide Level, CTD SVP, bathymetry sounding single/multi beam, GPS/ D-GPS user, Data logger (tide, wave, temperature and sea profile), oceanography data instrument analyst, 2D/3D Numerical ocean modeling advection.
    • Certified Diving : One Star SCUBA Diver CMAS, Basic Diver - ADS-Japan, Speciality Dive PADI, Dive work Level 1.
