The purpose of this position :
Shift Team Leaders in Slag Concentrators areas are responsible for coordinating all operators in their assigned area and directly contributing to the safe achievement of production activities on shift in the plant area, achieving production targets in accordance with specifications, both in quality and quantity. The Shift Team Leader will focus on tactical shift operations, ensuring the safe execution of tasks and optimizing processes. His/her main role is also in tactical coordination with other sections within the plant (Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Process Control, etc). The Shift Team Leader must be ready to assume the role of Shift Supervisor from time to time. The Slag Concentrator process will include several unit processes such as Crushing, Conveying, SAG milling, Ball milling, Flotation, and Dewatering.
The key duties and responsibilities of this position:
Safety & Environmental
- Control plant operational conditions related to OHS standards and environmental impact management set by company rules
- Proactively contribute and coordinate his team members to achieve production targets safely by engaging all Safety programs, including Fatal Risk management (FRM), by working positively with other Sections.
- Assist Supervisor in providing Safety briefing (safety talk) before work to process operators, maintenance or sub-contractors / labor .
- Lead and conduct Job safety Analysis (JSA) process for all work to be done.
- Ensure that every fatal risk job activitiy at assigned areas is accompanied by a work permit. (Exp. : working at height, welding, confined space, Maintenance, etc.)
- Ensure discipline of self and other team members in following work procedures (SOP).
- Proactively conduct work shift inspections in their area of responsibility and follow up on the necessary risk control/mitigation.
- Ensure the completeness and feasibility of Safety equipment for both personal and production units.
- Observe all activities taking place in the operational area, including maintenance activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to interact positively with operators, mechanics, and technicians, during field safety verification and be responsible for stopping work if uncontrolled hazardous conditions are found.
- Ensure daily plant operations consistently meet all environmental regulations and commitments.
- Responsible for the cleanliness, tidiness and comfort of the area under his/her responsibility, including: plant area and chemical storage.
- Prepare work shift reports to Supervisor, including the achievement of Safety and Environment aspects.
Operational / Operasional
- Contribute to maintaining a working culture within the organization culture that align with the PTFIS core values (SINCERE, Freeport EDGE, dll.)
- Coordinate the operational team in shift work to achieve safe production performance and ensure the safe handling of problems in the operation area.
- Provide necessary assist and support for operator to do their job.
- Reporting to shift supervisor, and willing to work walking shifts, the factory operates 24 hours per day.
- Make Shift work reports that include production achievements, factory area conditions, factory equipment, as well as the achievement of Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects.
- Coordinating the change meeting shift and give direction to operators in pre-shift meeting.
- Checking shift work records of operational data. log sheets, reagent stock, and sample analisys.
- Patrol the area. Including inspection and maintain all equipment.
- Assist Shift Supervisor in evaluating operator performance.
- Encourage cooperative efforts in the field between operations, maintenance, and other departments to repair any equipment malfunctions.
- Proactively provide feedback to superiors and the technical team to improve productivity, product quality, process stability.
- Fully support emergency recovery efforts.
- Participate in Shutdown/Start-up activities.
- Transferring responsibilities and tasks to the other shift (shift hand over) include all information on each piece of equipment.
During the detailed engineering, construction, operational readiness, and commissioning phases of the project
- Familiar with design, engineering, and safety aspects of assigned area.
- Participate in several training programs as mandated for business needs.
- Provide or participate in the delivery of classroom training.
- Involved in the planning and execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities within the appropriate technical scope and area.
- Assist Supervisor to prepare Operator training during operation readiness.
- Assist with other Operational readiness efforts as required.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:
Education, certification, and experience
- Min. Bachelor degree in mechanical, chemical or metallurgy with more than 3 years or Diploma with more than 5 years of shift operational experience in chemical plants, smelters or manufactur.
- Experience working in dust and chemical exposure conditions, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Experience working in crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering (thickener and filter press), and water clarifying will be advantages.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Operational and/or technical experience and knowledge of safe and efficient operations for the following:
- Slag Concentrator: Jaw Crusher, Belt Conveying, SAG milling, Ball milling, Centrifugal Pumps, Diaphragm Pumps, Compressor, Blower, Flotation, Thickeners, Filter Press, and Chemical Handling.
- Experience working in operations following integrated (operations/maintenance planning and scheduling) and routine planning standards.
- Proven experience in leading field operations workers, by creating and maintaining the right work culture of safety, environmental discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.
- Possess skills to influence parties outside of direct supervision, and communication with superiors.
- Able to communicate in english (reading and writing)
- Able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Skilled in following safety and hazard recognition practices.
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

The key areas that the incumbent has decision-making responsibility:
- Safety and Compliance: enforcing safety protocols, procedures, and regulations. It must take immediate actions if any safety hazards or non-compliance issues are identified, including stopping operations if necessary.
- Equipment Maintenance: coordinating with Maintenance personnel about how to conduct equipment maintenance and repairs. Able to help maintenance to finish their job immediately without compromising safety factor.
- Emergency Response: mitigate risks and minimize the impact on operations if there is the event of an emergency, such as equipment breakdowns, safety incidents, or unforeseen disruptions
- Analyze problem and recommending troubleshooting for tactical operation.
- Effectively communicate to shift supervisor, CROs, and operators.
