  • Provide expertise in the development, implementation and maintenance of enterprise GIS platform and database; support implementation plans for GIS technologies for internal stakeholders to maximize multi discipline usage of GIS data; and to develop and maintain GIS information and supporting databases for mineral management.
  • Supervise GIS contractor services delivery products and ensure all information in GIS are updated when necessary.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:

1. Development of GIS applications to integrate existing and new GIS data into internal stakeholders' business practices on web and mobile platform.

2. Mainly to implements GIS analysis tools for the system users and operators; designs and develops GIS database models and templates including mineral management of unpatented claims, areas of interest and notices of location.

3. Supports maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure the security of GIS information.

4. Works with PTFIs GIS contractors to develop best alternatives in term of technology and costs for PTFI.

5. Works with service providers within the company that support GIS technology, e.g. MIS

6. Understand and be aware of safety and environmental practices in the work area ensuring safe work practices for you, working colleagues and contract workers and compliance with company Safety and Environmental SOPs.

7. Schedule regular instruction and inspection and insist on completion of all company policy requirements by subordinates to ensure compliance with company Safety and Environmental SOPs

8. Respond to ad hoc special projects (typically resulting from business or operational unplanned events).

The key challenges in this position include:

  • Ability to utilize limited resources, and work under constraints to achieve the most.
  • Occasionally work may be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.


The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Geography or related field and at least three (3) years of specific experience with ESRI ARC GIS software, including ARCGIS server and mobile applications and two (2) years of GIS mining specific experience including notices of location, unpatented claims and areas of interest;

Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters)

  • Intermediate level of knowledge in ESRI ARC GIS, ArcMap, ArcPro software
  • Familiarity in ESRI ARC GIS Enterprise software
  • Intermediate level of html5, JavaScript, and json technologies to support the development of GIS widgets.
  • Deep knowledge on how to analyze remote sensing data and aerial photos.
  • Python scripting knowledge is preferred.
  • Having BNSP certification in GIS is preferrable.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Good supervisory, leadership and teaching skills, with the ability to work with diverse cultures.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills.
