Basic Function:

Provides overall supervision and direction of activities associated with the electrical power system, protection relay system and metering testing and calibration, electrical substation and engine control system integrity as well as cyber security related work on protection equipment, control and automation system; electrical power system analysis and performs as may be necessary work and/or testing of any other related electrical aspects of the facilities and work together with other group (internal/external PG&T) in order to optimize power system reliability, availability, effectiveness and efficiency in a safe manner.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Analyzes reports of the Electrical Power System Engineering, Protection Relay Engineering, and Electrical/Mechanic Control and Automation and Cyber Security Engineering, to achieve the best results for system availability and reliability.
  2. Initiates and implements power system corrective actions to achieve results leading to improved or enhanced electrical power system supply and protection continuity.
  3. Plans, assigns, and prioritizes the work of engineering group to maintain an optimum level of effectiveness, efficiency, reliability and safety of electrical power system protection, control, automation, and cyber security system.
  4. Provides technical system analysis and detailed reports to direct supervisor and senior management regarding all power system events/problems.
  5. Coordinates engineer team to performs protection relay & metering setting, testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting and support for the power system and all related equipment to improve system availability and reliability.
  6. Coordinates supporting work activities with other internal and external groups to make sure any required power system studies, analysis, development project and/or enhancements are completed as designed and in as safe and timely a manner as practical.
  7. Manages the engineering data of the power system which effectively allows customers to manage their overall power requirement.
  8. Provides the recommendations to external group any necessary technical data analysis regarding power equipment purchasing.
  9. Responsible for recommending to direct supervisor any necessary purchases and assisting in formulating the annual budget for this group.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Possesses S1 Electrical Engineering degree with 5 years of related experience in electrical power system, electrical power control system, automation/cyber security, progressive technical and supervisory experiences or
  • Academic background (D3) with 10 years of related experience in electrical power system, electrical power control system, automation/cyber security, progressive technical and supervisory experiences.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of electrical protection system, metering, and control system.
  • Has an ability work with electrical drawing and control diagram.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar in operating computer and its electrical software applications.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardize situation.
  • Good in speaking and writing technical report in English.
