About the job Management information system - Engineer, Data Center Infra Ops #1
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Engineer Data Center Ops to join our team.
In this role, you will responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration and reliable operations of servers, storage, backups and disaster recovery environment, to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the compute environment, as well as to maintain the security and integrity of the data stored within.
Education Background:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in System Administration Management.
- Certification : Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
Key Challenges:
Data Security: The metals industry relies heavily on data to make informed decisions. As a systems engineer, you will need to ensure that the servers and storage are secure from unauthorized access and that sensitive data is protected from cyber threats.
Equipment Maintenance: Server and storage systems requires frequent maintenance and repairs. As a systems engineer, you will need to coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure that equipment downtime is minimized, and server connectivity is restored as quickly as possible.
Capacity Planning: As the number of users and data grows, it is important to anticipate and plan for future capacity needs. This requires careful monitoring of system performance and usage trends to ensure that there is enough capacity to handle future growth.
Meeting Service Level Agreements: Ensuring that the systems you manage meet the service level agreements set by the organization. This requires effective communication with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that service expectations are met.
Resolving Complex and Technical Issues: This role will be responsible for handling complex technical issues that the team may not be able to resolve on their own. This requires a strong technical background and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly.
Hazardous Environment: Smelting operations can be dangerous, you must be aware of and follow strict safety protocols when visiting and working in these environments, using specialized protective gear to ensure safety.
High Pressure Environment: Mining and smelting operations are often high-pressure environments where downtime can result in significant financial losses, you may need to deal with high-pressure situations where time is of the essence. You need to be able to make quick decisions and take appropriate actions to resolve issues promptly.
Ensuring Compliance with Regulations: There are numerous government regulations that govern the use and management of data. You need to understand and follow the regulations, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and implementing appropriate security measures to protect the systems and sensitive data.
Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters)
- Strong technical skills in areas such as server and network administration, operating systems, databases, Active Directory, virtualization, and security.
- Automation, experience with scripting and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and increase efficiency.
- Knowledge and understanding of process control and data acquisition systems.
- Knowledge of regulations that govern data retention and privacy including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, technical and conversational.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work outside regular business house when necessary.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in the metal processing industry.
Experience in mining or process automation industries is a plus.
