About the job Power Generation & Transmission - Mechanical Engineer Maintenance Coal Plant
Provide and carry out planning, scheduling, and execution of all mechanical and plant equipment activities as required, including continuous improvement of equipment functionality and reliability. Ensure both short-term and long-term operational reliability through the application of sound principles and best practices. This role supports the power plant and power systems in achieving safety, efficiency, production, and financial objectives, while delivering the electrical energy required to meet customer needs in mining and milling operations.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Provide supervision, planning, and direction to assigned work groups in carrying out corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities of the Portsite Coal Plant.
2. Ensure performance and reliability of plant equipment, support investigations, and propose changes to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
3. Assist in root cause investigations, identifying potential issues, collecting supporting data, and preparing data to support Maintenance group and follow up reports to all levels of Management.
4. Perform problem-solving, inspection, monitoring, reviewing, and documenting of all facility equipment and operating conditions.
5. Supervise engineering groups in performing corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to maximize unit availability and reliability.
6. Contributes to and implements as directed the mechanical preventive and predictive maintenance as outlined in the PdM program to maintain reliability at or exceeding the specified annual goals.
7. Minimize costs and maximize unit reliability by effectively planning, scheduling, and coordinating all work for the assigned mechanical maintenance group.
8. Support facility profitability by developing and performing engineering maintenance procedures, as well as training and developing employees to ensure productivity and cost awareness.
9. Ensure operator responsibilities are understood and complied with, while maintaining knowledge of facility and regulatory requirements to meet business objectives.
10. Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with safety and housekeeping procedures to meet Coal Plant safety goals.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering with 2-3 years of related experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in power plant commissioning with extensive practical experience in power systems and diesel generator maintenance.
2. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (D3) with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
3. Senior Technical High School graduate with over 10 years of experience in diesel generator preventive maintenance and power systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, including component preparation and system maintenance.
2. Solid understanding of power generation systems, governors, electrical power systems, electric motor equipment, and mechanical drawings.
3. Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
4. Proficient in English communication, both oral and written.
5. Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and advanced Excel.
6. Ability to interpret and work with engineering and shop drawings.
7. Thorough knowledge of medium- and high-speed engine components and operations.
8. Familiarity with SAP and Windows-based applications.
