Overview

The Software Engineer (SRE) is responsible for supporting IT operations and projects through proactive monitoring, observability, automation, and reliability engineering practices. The role works closely with internal IT teams, external partners, and vendors to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and service availability.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Observability

  • Proactively monitor system, application, infrastructure health, and log data to identify potential issues.
  • Install, configure, manage, and maintain monitoring and observability tools.
  • Implement, enhance, and integrate monitoring solutions to improve operational visibility and enable proactive issue detection.
  • Analyse operational data and develop dashboards to provide actionable insights and identify trends or anomalies.
  • Continuously improve monitoring capabilities and operational processes.

Operations Automation

  • Automate day-to-day operational activities using tools and technologies such as Ansible, Shell Scripting, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Develop and enhance automation workflows to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across IT operations.
  • Reliability Engineering & Operational Support
  • Provide operational and project support as part of the Reliability Engineering function.
  • Handle service requests and operational activities related to reliability engineering.
  • Support production incidents and assist with timely incident resolution.
  • Provide support for project cutovers and critical service requests.
  • Participate in after-hours or 24x7 operational support when required to ensure system availability and stability.
  • Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and outsourced vendors.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT operations, automation, monitoring, or reliability engineering.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on scripting or automation experience, preferably using Ansible, Shell Scripting, Python, or PowerShell.
  • At least 2 years of experience implementing or managing monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Familiarity with platforms and technologies such as Windows, Linux, Unix, AWS Cloud, databases, and middleware technologies.
  • Experience using analytics and observability tools such as ELK Stack, SQL, or Grafana to identify trends, anomalies, and operational insights is highly advantageous.

Professional Qualifications

  • SRE or other relevant technical certifications are advantageous.
