Job Openings M62- Full Stack Engineer

About the job M62- Full Stack Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for a portfolio of enterprise digital products and platforms.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role combining full stack development, technical leadership, application maintenance, architecture, and modernisation. You will work across multiple applications, programming languages, and codebases — ranging from legacy systems to modern technology stacks.

You will serve as a technical anchor for the portfolio, taking ownership of application stability, engineering quality, architecture decisions, and technical direction while remaining actively involved in coding and delivery.

You will also guide other engineers, establish engineering standards, and coordinate with product teams, business stakeholders, and technical teams on priorities, risks, migrations, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Own the overall technical health and engineering quality of a portfolio of digital products.
  • Provide technical direction across multiple applications, languages, and codebases.
  • Make sound architecture and design decisions based on scalability, maintainability, security, and operational requirements.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs when modernising, migrating, or maintaining existing systems.
  • Identify technical risks and drive appropriate remediation plans.

Full Stack Development & Application Support

  • Design, develop, review, and deliver frontend and backend application changes.
  • Maintain and enhance existing applications across both modern and legacy technology stacks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and application issues.
  • Deliver bug fixes, security patches, infrastructure updates, and technical improvements.
  • Provide L2/L3 application support and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure applications remain stable, secure, performant, and maintainable.

Migration & Modernisation

  • Lead application migration, modernisation, and technology upgrade initiatives.
  • Drive the transition of legacy applications and components to newer architectures and platforms.
  • Assess technical dependencies and determine appropriate migration approaches.
  • Coordinate migration activities across engineering, product, and stakeholder teams.
  • Support application retirement, transition, and technical handover where required.

Engineering Standards & Mentoring

  • Establish and maintain engineering standards for code quality, testing, code reviews, releases, and deployment.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure appropriate engineering quality gates are followed.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers through technical reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote good engineering practices across the development lifecycle.

Cloud, DevOps & Observability

  • Support applications running within cloud-hosted and containerised environments.
  • Work with Docker and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable application delivery.
  • Analyse application logs, metrics, and system behaviour using AWS services such as ECS and CloudWatch.
  • Use observability technologies such as OpenTelemetry for tracing, metrics, and logs.
  • Drive improvements to application monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational resilience.

Documentation & Cross-Team Coordination

  • Maintain architecture documentation, technical notes, runbooks, and handover materials.
  • Ensure sufficient technical documentation exists to support long-term maintainability and knowledge transfer.
  • Coordinate with engineers, product teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Communicate technical risks, dependencies, priorities, and delivery considerations clearly to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on Full Stack Software Engineering experience, including experience in a Senior or Lead Engineer capacity.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React.
  • Strong experience designing and developing backend APIs and services.
  • Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Proven ability to navigate, troubleshoot, and enhance applications across multiple languages and codebases.
  • Experience working with both modern and legacy systems.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and application design principles.
  • Ability to make technical and architectural decisions and evaluate engineering trade-offs.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting applications using logs, metrics, tracing, and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS ECS, CloudWatch, and/or OpenTelemetry.
  • Strong proficiency with Git, code reviews, testing practices, and engineering quality gates.
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating technical work across multiple teams and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting large-scale or business-critical digital platforms.
  • Experience leading application modernisation or migration initiatives.
  • Experience with legacy system migration, transition, or retirement.
  • Experience providing L2/L3 production support for enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, security patching, and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience working within complex, highly regulated, or large-scale environments.

Personal Attributes

  • Technical leadership: Able to provide direction and influence engineering decisions across teams.
  • Self-directed: Comfortable taking ownership and leading without close supervision.
  • Pragmatic: Makes sensible engineering trade-offs between speed, quality, risk, and maintainability.
  • Adaptable: Comfortable navigating changing priorities, legacy environments, and system transitions.
  • Collaborative: Builds strong working relationships with engineers, product teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Mentoring mindset: Willing to guide and develop other engineers through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ownership-driven: Takes responsibility for the stability, security, quality, and technical direction of the products under their care.
