Senior Backend Developer (Java)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with strong Java/Spring Boot expertise and excellent communication skills to work in a complex integration environment.

The role requires frequent collaboration with Product Owners, Business Users, upstream/downstream system teams, AMS/support teams, and other technical stakeholders. The candidate is expected to proactively clarify requirements, identify dependencies, and drive technical discussions to ensure alignment across different parties.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Proactively work with PO/BU teams to clarify business requirements, identify gaps, and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Coordinate with multiple upstream and downstream systems to clarify interfaces, dependencies, data flows, and integration impacts.
• Drive technical discussions across multiple stakeholders, follow up on open points, and ensure clear alignment before and during implementation.
• Work closely with AMS/support teams for production issue investigation, handover, and operational support.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and system integrations.
• Use Splunk for application monitoring, log analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation.
• Support releases and troubleshoot complex issues across integrated systems.
• Participate in technical design, code reviews, and continuous improvement of development practices.

• Strong ability to communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders across different teams and functions.
• Able to lead requirement clarification and technical discussions independently, rather than relying solely on the technical lead.
• Able to explain technical issues, dependencies, risks, and proposed solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a multicultural, cross-functional environment with different communication styles and accents.
• Proactive in raising questions, identifying unclear requirements, following up on dependencies, and driving issues toward resolution.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, and system integration.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based applications.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL, including database design, queries, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Redis for caching and backend performance optimization.
• Experience with Splunk for monitoring, log analysis, troubleshooting, and production issue investigation.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, particularly for issues involving multiple integrated systems.
• Able to work independently and take end-to-end ownership of assigned features and technical issues.

Preferred

• Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications with multiple system integrations.
• Experience working directly with PO/BU, external system teams, and production support/AMS teams.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, and cloud-native development.
• Experience performing root-cause analysis for complex cross-system production issues.
