Role Overview

The Visual / UI Designer is responsible for delivering intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and user-centred interface designs that enhance the overall user experience across digital platforms. This role involves translating user requirements and business objectives into compelling visual designs, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints, and adhering to design systems and accessibility standards. The designer will collaborate closely with UX researchers, product managers, and developers to deliver polished, user-focused designs that balance functionality with visual appeal, driving user engagement and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-fidelity visual designs, interactive prototypes, and design specifications for web and mobile applications.
  • Ensure designs are both visually compelling and functionally effective, aligned with established design systems and brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with UX researchers and product teams to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points, translating insights into actionable design solutions.
  • Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries to ensure visual consistency across digital products.
  • Establish scalable design patterns that can be efficiently implemented by development teams.
  • Participate in user testing sessions, collect feedback, and iterate designs based on user insights and stakeholder input.
  • Continuously refine interfaces to optimise usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction while supporting business objectives.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of professional experience as a UI Designer, Visual Designer, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of design systems, responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and usability principles.
  • Experience designing for web and mobile platforms with attention to detail in typography, layout, colour, and iconography.
  • Ability to create interactive prototypes and communicate design intent effectively to developers and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Agile development environments and close collaboration with product and engineering teams.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design excellence and user-centred design solutions.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
