Overview

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring software quality, reliability, and performance throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Working closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Software Engineers in an Agile and DevOps environment, you will develop automated testing strategies, implement quality assurance best practices, and drive continuous improvement to deliver high-quality software.

Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to define clear acceptance criteria for user stories.
  • Design risk-based test strategies for complex software systems.
  • Conduct time-boxed exploratory testing to identify edge cases and usability issues.
  • Lead System Integration Testing (SIT) and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with stakeholders.

Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans covering:

  • Functional testing
  • Regression testing
  • Exploratory testing
  • Integration testing
  • Performance testing

Test Automation

  • Develop and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks.
  • Implement automated test suites to maximize coverage and reduce production defects.
  • Continuously improve regression and smoke test suites for early defect detection.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast feedback and continuous delivery.

Quality Management

  • Manage the defect lifecycle, test artifacts, and test repositories.
  • Monitor testing progress and provide clear reporting on quality metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvements in testing tools, frameworks, and QA methodologies.
  • Collaborate with development teams to promote quality throughout the SDLC.

Cross-functional Quality Engineering

  • Support application performance testing and security testing initiatives.
  • Contribute to improving software reliability beyond functional testing.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles and risk-based testing methodologies.
  • Experience creating test plans, test cases, and automated test suites.
  • Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing for web, mobile, and API applications.
  • Familiarity with cross-browser, cross-platform, and responsive UI testing.

Experience with one or more automation frameworks:

  • Selenium
  • Playwright
  • Cypress
  • Robot Framework
  • SikuliX
  • EggPlant

Programming or scripting experience in one or more of the following:

  • Python
  • Java
  • JavaScript
  • C#

CI/CD & DevOps

  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
  • Experience with containerized testing using Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.

Agile Methodologies

  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or XP).
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
  • Shift-left testing
  • Exploratory testing

Performance & Security Testing (Preferred)

Experience with one or more of the following is an advantage:

  • Performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6, Locust)
  • Security testing tools (OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite)
  • SAST and DAST methodologies
  • API security testing using OAuth and JWT authentication

Test Management

Experience using test management and defect tracking tools such as:

  • Jira
  • TestRail
  • Micro Focus ALM (Quality Center/Sprinter)

Certifications (Preferred)

  • The following certifications are an advantage:
  • Certified Software Testing Professional (CSTP)
  • Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)
