GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Manager, Purchasing (Lab) is responsible for managing and directing the daily operations of the purchasing and supplies departments. The Manager will lead these teams in all phases of procurement and inventory control. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting order processing; inventory control; managing departmental budgets; ensuring DaVita Labs quality and purchasing policies are not compromised; negotiating and tracking service contacts with vendors and the legal department to ensure contracts do not expire and all proper documentation is complete. Manage the supply related support to both internal and external customers in order to meet financial results. This position reports to the Director, Materials Management.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, Hybrid - 2 day onsite and 3 days home each week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create reports and analyze data; forecast procurement needs and continually develop expertise to support growth for new projects.
- Maintain procurement files, VRS and MSDS/SDS records
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances/claims against/from suppliers
- Responsible for internal communications with the Director of Materials Management and Senior Leadership
- Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective and collaborative partnerships
- Maintain and regulate vendor rating system
- As needed, will assist in the auditing and vetting of vendors
- Administer, review and approve on-line purchase requisitions
- Prepare presentations related to key performance metrics, program updates and vendor management
- Demonstrate proactive problem solving and ability to make decisions
- Negotiate contracts for materials, services and equipment based on cost objectives and input from internal customers and when needed generate/manage RFQ/RFP packages for the supplier bid process
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies required, review, evaluate, approve specifications and determine product availability to ensure compliance.

- Arrange for disposal of surplus materials, supplies and equipment per DaVita Labs policies
- Provide leadership to direct reports: Coaching, counseling, disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising job results through continuous metric outcomes o Identify and develop training opportunities. Help direct reports overcome any organizational obstacles encountered. Know, understand, implement, follow, and communicate to teammates DaVita employment policies and procedures, awards, and other opportunities within company and foster a positive work environment. Facilitate teammate development (PDRs, coaching, mentoring, DaVita training, outside training); collaborate with direct reports to create professional development goals
- Monitor workflow and delegate responsibilities to team members, assists in scheduling personnel and time-keeping functions
- Plan, organize and supervise teammates to ensure high quality teammate customer service
- Know, understand, follow, and implement basic wage and hour laws, federal, state and local laws and regulations, Medicare, OHSA, and legislation affecting employment
- Maintain familiarity with and communicate to teammates DaVita programs impacting teammates including but not limited to Triple Crown
- Must support the company culture and values in all work activities
Perform routine business evaluations:
- Examine purchasing and inventory levels to maintain healthy supply.
- Develop regular reporting that provides insight, identifies opportunities, and delivers solutions.
- Evaluate business for expiring product and mitigate potential write-offs.
- Arrange for disposal of surplus materials, supplies and equipment policies.
- Proactively address business continuity issues or any inventory/supplier concerns.
- Keep Sr. Leadership informed on all active business and operational issues.
- Contribute during supplier negotiations, benchmarking, and price analysis.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of five years of experience in purchasing or contracting required
- Bachelor's degree in related area required
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office
- Ability to develop written standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Must have in depth experience with a purchasing practices and MRP functions
- Must have experience with developing and managing departmental budgets
- Microsoft SQL and Crystal reporting a plus
- Must have experience with WMS
