Position Overview
An established healthcare organization is seeking a Director of Pharmacy Services to lead daily pharmacy operations and ensure the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical services. This leadership role is responsible for medication management, pharmacy oversight, regulatory compliance, inventory control, and collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical team members to support quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all pharmacy department operations.
- Supervise the preparation, verification, and dispensing of medications.
- Review and approve medications distributed through the pharmacy.
- Manage pharmaceutical purchasing and inventory levels to maintain adequate stock.
- Ensure proper procurement, storage, handling, and distribution of medications.
- Maintain compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations and standards.
- Enter and maintain patient medication information within pharmacy systems.
- Serve as a pharmacy resource for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support medication safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts.
- Oversee pharmaceutical services provided to affiliated outpatient and emergency care locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharmacy).
- Active licensure through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy leadership experience in a hospital setting.
- Ability to obtain certification in aseptic technique within one year of employment.
- Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory requirements.
