The Role
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for properly recording and reporting the firm's financial transactions. The ideal candidate must be a detail-oriented and highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently under the pressure of deadlines and produce results.
Core Responsibilities
- Preparation of recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including the month-end close process and daily banking transactions.
- Preparation of the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and analysis of P&L accounts.
- Facilities and Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) management, including monitoring leases, preparation of rent schedules, and business property tax statement filings (Form 571-L).
- Cash and treasury management includes monitoring and executing electronic payments and cash flow forecasting.
- Development and enhancement of policies and procedures and establishing and monitoring internal controls associated with core responsibilities and associated systems.
- Upholding customer confidence and protecting operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field (minor in Accounting accepted).
- CPA candidate and/or public accounting experience preferred.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States full-time.
Essential Functions
- Preparation of month-end and ad-hoc financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Review/analysis of leases for the preparation and/or review of rent schedules and ad‐hoc reporting.
- Preparing financial data and related schedules for firms' tax accountants and other tax-related matters.
- Addressing and/or monitoring help desk tickets related to ad‐hoc financial research and reporting.
- Assist with implementing, enhancing, and/or upgrading the systems associated with core responsibilities.
- Performance of ad-hoc analysis and special projects, as needed.
Experience
- Minimum 2-years of experience in auditing/public accounting and/or operational accounting and/or financial reporting.
- Demonstrated sound professional judgment and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience with partnership accounting is highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP formula, etc.).
- Knowledge of US GAAP.
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and comprehension skills.
