The Role
Oversees the human resources department, handling tasks such as non-exempt staff recruitment, employee relations, payroll management, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Develop HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and foster a positive workplace culture.
Position Summary
- Job Title: Human Resources Manager
- Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
- Work Arrangement: In-office, 4 days per week
- Compensation: $110,000-$160,000
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum Education: BA/BS in Human Resources or related field.
- Authorized to work in the USA.
Core Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Staffing: Oversee hiring for all non-exempt staff, manage job postings (Indeed, LinkedIn), and coordinate temporary staffing needs.
- Onboarding & Orientation: Conduct new hire orientations and manage employee onboarding.
- Employee Relations: Provide coaching/counseling to employees and management, ensuring compliance with HR policies.
- Benefits & Compliance: Coordinate annual Open Enrollment and manage leave of absence programs (FMLA, PFL, CFRA, ADA accommodations).
- HR Policies & Performance Management: Develop and implement HR policies, oversee performance evaluations, and conduct exit interviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal and state labor laws, including equal opportunity policies.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Experience with law firm operations is a plus.
- SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong hands-on approach with broad HR expertise (recruitment, employee relations, benefits).
- Ability to objectively coach employees and management.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to sit at a desk and use computers for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 10 lbs.
