Portfolio Manager

 Job Description:

We are partnering with a well-established Venture Capital and Private Equity firm committed to driving innovation in technology, fintech, and energy sectors. They are currently looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager to join their team in Bahrain and play a pivotal role in optimizing the strategic alignment and operational efficiency of diverse investments.

Responsibilities:

1- Performance Management:

  • Supervise the business, operational, and financial performance of Subsidiaries/Affiliates.
  • Act as a point of contact for Subsidiary/Affiliate companies on behalf of the Parent Company and the COO.
  • Address and evaluate issues raised by portfolio company management, facilitating resolutions or escalating significant issues to senior management.

2- Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with Subsidiary/Affiliate CEOs.
  • Serve as an executive liaison between the Leadership Team of the Parent Company and Subsidiaries/Affiliates.

3- Performance Evaluation and Improvement:

  • Conduct monthly meetings with portfolio company management to review performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop time-bound action plans for portfolio companies and monitor their implementation.

4- Corporate Governance:

  • Implement and monitor corporate governance processes by conducting board and committee meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with governance processes by scheduling required meetings and preparing meeting materials.

5- Strategic Support:

  • Support portfolio companies in growth and business strategy, including the preparation and review of 5-year business plans.
  • Review annual budgets and provide feedback to portfolio company management.
  • Collaborate on and monitor the progress of new business initiatives, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

6- Communication and Coordination:

  • Establish channels of communication between support functions of the Parent Company and portfolio management teams.
  • Schedule ad hoc meetings between portfolio companies and Parent Company management on emergencies.

7- Development Initiatives:

  • Lead and engage in business development initiatives of the Parent Company.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of transactions.
  • Represent portfolio companies in external forums and contribute to business development initiatives.

8- Operational Support:

  • Coordinate with portfolio company management to ensure policies and procedures are in place.
  • Conduct periodic visits to offices or project sites of portfolio companies to gather ground information.
  • Support COO's office in all activities related to portfolio companies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration or related field.
  • 5+ Years of leadership experience in portfolio management.
  • Experience in venture capital, holding companies, or groups.
  • Great Written and Verbal communication skills in English.
  • Exceptional performance monitoring and reporting skills.
  • Extensive problem-solving and risk mitigation skills.
  • Great networking and relationship-building skills.
