Head of Quantitative Strategies

FS Investments is seeking a Head of Quantitative Strategies to establish and lead a high-performing quantitative team in the U.S., based in Philadelphia. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and intellectually sharp quantitative leader to build and scale a team focused on risk analytics, quantitative modeling, and investment strategy development across alternative and traditional asset classes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build & Lead a Quant Team: Establish and manage a small but highly skilled team (4+ professionals) specializing in risk analytics, quantitative modeling, and investment research.
• Hands-On with Traders: Work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and risk teams to develop and refine models that drive investment decision-making.
• Develop & Enhance Models: Lead the development and implementation of quantitative risk models, pricing models, and portfolio analytics tools to optimize trading and risk management.
• Drive Research & Innovation: Stay ahead of market trends and leverage cutting-edge quantitative techniques to enhance performance in credit products, equities, and alternative investments.
• Utilize Advanced Tools & Techniques: Be conversant with leading quant tools and methodologies to ensure robust, data-driven decision-making.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Strong Quantitative Expertise: PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance, or related field from a top-tier university.
• Proven Experience in Financial Markets: Deep experience in alternative investments, credit products, and traditional equities.
• Technical & Analytical Skills: Exceptional mathematical and programming abilities with expertise in risk modeling and analytics.
• Hands-On & Collaborative Approach: Ability to work directly with traders and portfolio managers while also building a high-impact quant team.
• Wall Street Experience: Previous experience in a buy-side or sell-side quant role with a strong track record in developing models that drive investment decisions.
