Position Summary
The Testing and Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for planning, developing, executing, and coordinating comprehensive testing activities to support the implementation and enhancement of healthcare information systems within a clinical environment. The role ensures that clinical applications, system integrations, and healthcare workflows meet functional, technical, regulatory, and quality standards prior to deployment. The analyst collaborates with project managers, clinical stakeholders, business analysts, developers, interface teams, and end users to support successful digital healthcare transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts for healthcare information systems.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, system, user acceptance, and end-to-end testing across multiple clinical applications.
- Validate business requirements, functional specifications, workflows, and clinical processes to ensure complete test coverage.
- Test and validate Altera Sunrise clinical applications, including patient registration, admissions, clinical documentation, orders, results, and associated clinical workflows.
- Conduct integration testing for healthcare systems utilizing HL7 messaging standards, including validation of ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, and other healthcare interface transactions.
- Verify data mapping, message transformation, routing, and successful processing by downstream receiving systems.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects using defect management tools, ensuring timely resolution and retesting.
- Collaborate with development teams, interface analysts, solution architects, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and improve application quality.
- Execute regression testing following software enhancements, patches, and production releases.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating test execution, preparing test data, facilitating issue resolution, and obtaining stakeholder sign-off.
- Develop testing metrics, status reports, traceability matrices, and quality assurance documentation for project governance.
- Validate compliance with healthcare standards, privacy requirements, organizational policies, and clinical safety practices.
- Support implementations involving urgent care, emergency care, and acute care clinical environments.
- Provide onsite implementation support during system go-live activities, including issue triage, troubleshooting, workflow validation, and production verification.
- Deliver one-on-one coaching and end-user support during healthcare transformation initiatives to ensure successful adoption of new systems and processes.
- Participate in the establishment of new healthcare facilities by supporting system configuration validation, workflow testing, readiness assessments, integrated testing, and operational transition activities.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure technology solutions align with patient care requirements and organizational objectives.
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance testing methodologies, quality standards, and delivery efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in Software Testing or Quality Assurance (ISTQB, International Institute of Software Testing, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience as a Quality Assurance Analyst in complex project environments.
- Strong experience testing healthcare information systems implemented in clinical settings.
- Demonstrated expertise testing Altera Sunrise clinical applications.
- Experience performing HL7 integration and interface testing, including message validation and data mapping.
- Experience supporting acute care healthcare transformation initiatives.
- Experience implementing or testing urgent care and emergency department information systems.
- Experience supporting the implementation of systems for new healthcare facility openings.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, technical, and business stakeholders within multidisciplinary healthcare project teams.
