About Shared Health and HCRRO

Shared Health leads the planning and integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. It delivers province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

The Health Care Recruitment and Retention Office (HCRRO) reports to Manitoba Health, Seniors, and Long-Term Care and is responsible for the recruitment and retention of health care employees, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, health care aides, and allied health professionals. In collaboration with Service Delivery Organizations (SDOs) and government entities, HCRRO aims to strengthen Manitobas health system workforce by addressing recruitment barriers, simplifying hiring processes, and implementing modern retention strategies.

As part of the Process Improvement Office (PIO), the HCRRO works to streamline processes and enhance efficiencies in health systems across the province. The PIO collaborates with government departments, SDOs, educational institutions, and clinical experts to address health care workforce needs and priority initiatives.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a provincial committee in establishing nurse ratio standards in Manitoba. The role will involve working closely with unions, employer organizations, and government departments to drive key workforce planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage workforce transformation projects within the health sector.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including nurses, physicians, executive leaders, and union/professional associations.
  • Conduct policy research, including jurisdictional scans, focus groups, and survey design.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support health care workforce planning.
  • Oversee project management activities, including risk management and reporting to executive sponsors.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement to advance health workforce transformation initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Public Administration, Social Science, Nursing, or Health Sciences (Proof required).
  • Valid Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (Proof required).

Preferred Experience:

  • 7+ years managing health workforce transformation projects (provide three examples).
  • 10+ years leading health care initiatives involving workforce planning and patient care improvements.
  • 5+ years working with diverse health sector stakeholders to implement provincial workforce initiatives.
  • 5+ years conducting policy research and preparing final written reports.
  • 2+ years providing project management support for nursing workforce initiatives.
  • 2+ years experience with provincial health system and workforce initiatives.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work model with in-person and remote work options within Canada.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
