Role Overview:
The Procurement Manager, reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, is responsible for leading the Purchasing, Planning, and Logistics departments at our Scarborough location. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to develop essential procurement and supply chain management skills. The role focuses on managing procurement processes, developing and implementing strategies, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient and cost-effective flow of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Management (Procurement, Planning, and Logistics):
- Collaborate with the Director of Supply Chain to oversee the execution of the overall procurement strategy.
- Lead procurement activities, develop plans, monitor KPIs, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Establish minimum and economic order quantities (MOQs and EOQs) for vendors based on demand, cost, and storage constraints.
- Negotiate and manage commodity contracts to secure optimal agreements.
- Regularly evaluate vendor performance and optimize buying parameters to improve service levels, reduce waste, and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Implement cost-effective procurement strategies to drive long-term savings.
- Build and nurture strong supplier relationships, ensuring favorable contract terms while maintaining a positive rapport.
- Track and compare purchase costs with historical data and budgets.
- Manage item creation in the ERP system, handle RFPs, and identify potential new suppliers.
Warehouse Management:
- Support inventory management processes, identify slow-moving materials, and mitigate risks associated with perishable items.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to enforce stringent controls on the receipt and inventory of materials.
Finance:
- Negotiate payment terms, discounts, and rebates with vendors.
- Ensure accurate reflection of total landed costs, including purchase price, freight, duties, and other associated costs in pricing models.
- Maintain oversight of procurement-related accounts payable and receivable.
Quality Assurance:
- Support the vetting and onboarding of new suppliers, ensuring compliance with internal policies and standards.
- Assist in resolving material quality issues, whether directly purchased or customer-supplied.
Commercial Responsibilities:
- Drive strategic sourcing for new materials in commercial projects.
- Align commodity contracts with key customer contacts, ensuring consistency and transparency.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Bachelor's degree in management, supply chain, or engineering (higher education is a plus).
- Strong organizational, time management, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in SAP, WMS, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
- Experience in the co-manufacturing and food industry is a significant asset.
