About the job Systems Administrator - Permanent - $70-80K
The System Administrator is responsible for providing operational support for all systems and infrastructure including Network, Desktop, Server, Hypervisor, Storage Area networks, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and various other systems with the goal of continuously improving IT Services.
The individual will bring experience in systems security, vendor management and some project management experience. As well, the successful candidate will work as a team with the Manager IT Operations, and other Systems Administrators. The individual will assist in providing both Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, and will contribute directly to meeting SLA targets, as well as provide technical guidance for any change management activities and scheduling of patching and maintenance activities.
This a hybrid role with the requirement to work On Site multiple times per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing VMware infrastructure in multiple datacentres for VM provisioning, replication, backup, SAN connectivity, performance monitoring, etc.
- Address the following in accordance with company guidelines: hardware asset management, implementation, support and maintenance of centralized desktop, server and datacenter hardware.
- Bring knowledge of security systems and oversee these systems
- Monitor tickets for any potential SLA breeches and prioritize accordingly
- Ensure emphasis on priority incident resolution, capacity and availability processes, ensuring the infrastructure is constantly being analyzed and improved upon to meet and exceed SLA/OLA targets
- Install and maintain servers, storage and network devices, configuring operating systems, and applying service packs and configuring and monitoring alerts
- Assist in managing network security (firewall, VPN, certificates, updates, policies)
- Assist in planning capacity to ensure that all applications have enough resources to fully meet client/project requirements.
- Create and maintain relevant documentation
- Ensure that RTO and RPO requirements are met
- Contribute to Disaster Recovery planning and documentation
- Provide Level 3 support for the helpdesk system, processing work requests and providing customer service
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5-7 years of experience supporting systems with a college or university
- degree (preferred)
- Windows Servers (physical & virtual)
- Advanced knowledge of VMWare ESX 5.5, 6.1
- Security and DM experience
- Knowledge and experience with:
- Exchange 2010
- SharePoint
- Microsoft Cloud (Azure, AWS)
- Storage (SAN, NAS)
- Veeam for Backup
- Cisco Meraki
- .NET and MySQL
- Microsoft Windows 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016
Qualifications
- Experience setting up and configuring services, RAID systems and solid experience with AD administration including user accounts, group policies, NTFS security, networking and network protocols, TCP/IP, experienced setting up, and supporting file and print, CDHP, DNS, IIS, RDP, WSUS and SQL servers
- Hands-on ability with network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, SAN and NAS
- Practical experience using Windows PowerShell and VBScript
- Experience with AD Migration from 2003 to 2016
- Familiar with ITIL and Service Management processes
- Available to assist IT team for 24/7 on-call services based on a rotating team schedule
- Self-leader: takes independent action and goes beyond what the job or situation requires.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English); ability to explain complex ideas in a way that others understand
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems effectively
