Job Description

As the Inventory Control Supervisor, you will lead a team of three coordinators while overseeing the company's ingredient, packaging, and finished goods inventory across manufacturing and warehouse facilities and a third-party offsite warehousing facility.

The role involves training warehouse team members (drivers, inventory clerks, and administrators), maintaining balanced inventory records, conducting inventory counts, analyzing inventory data, and implementing best practices to reduce waste, prevent inaccurate reporting, and minimize shrinkage or theft.

Essential Functions

Inventory Management:

  • Provide hands-on support to ensure inventory accuracy, liaising with cross-functional teams for follow-up and next steps.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Warehousing to optimize procedures for efficiency, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate cycle and year-end inventory counts at multiple warehouses and reconcile in-transit inventory.
  • Develop action plans to manage inventory levels and optimize stock requirements.
  • Ensure accurate Min/Max levels and correct costing for all inventory items.
  • Address inventory issues as they arise and implement root-cause fixes.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory management policies and procedures.

Inventory/Cost Accounting:

  • Run and reconcile inventory valuation reports across all warehouses.
  • Examine supply levels and raw materials to determine shortages through system and physical counts.
  • Investigate inventory variances, identify root causes, and implement process improvements.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound loads between the main warehouse and third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse.
  • Post inventory adjustments in the SAP system.
  • Assist with system implementations and integrations.

Forecasting and Inventory Analysis:

  • Analyze current inventory levels for demand forecasting.
  • Coordinate inventory levels for ongoing or new projects with strategic departments.
  • Lead aging inventory analysis and follow-ups with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Finance to align reporting and analysis with forecasts.

Activities

  • Lead cross-functional aged inventory meetings to ensure adherence to KPIs and policies.
  • Conduct regular counts of products, materials, and packaging.
  • Maintain detailed records of all inventories.
  • Reorganize and reposition inventory to meet FIFO/FEFO standards.
  • Manage short-shelf-life ingredients to maximize usage.
  • Oversee freezer shipments to avoid product expiration.
  • Establish policies and practices to prevent write-offs and improve inventory management.
  • Support cross-functional teams during customer trials, ensuring appropriate inventory management for trial ingredients.
  • Address and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Implement improved security and storage procedures to minimize loss and theft.
  • Propose strategies to reduce costs and improve supply chain logistics.
  • Evaluate deliveries, shipments, and product levels to enhance inventory control.
  • Audit inventory control processes and track performance.
  • Support supplier evaluation through data analysis and trend monitoring to improve relationships, costs, and service levels.
  • Prepare and present reports, communicate findings, and provide data analysis to management.
  • Support retail store inventory requirements.

Job Specifications

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, including prior supervisory experience.
  • A proactive leader willing to bring forward new ideas and foster innovation within the team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage teams and cross-functional leaders.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with SAP is highly preferred; experience with Batch-Master is an asset.
