The Cloud Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for maintaining and improving the organizations Microsoft Azure environment, ensuring it remains secure, reliable, and cost-efficient. This role supports the day-to-day operation of cloud systems while helping the organization scale its infrastructure to meet evolving business needs. Working closely with internal technology teams, the successful candidate will manage cloud services, monitor performance, and implement best practices related to governance, security, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Azure-based services including compute, storage, networking, and security configurations to support business operations.
- Monitor the health and availability of cloud infrastructure and investigate service disruptions or performance concerns.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs within the Azure environment through budgeting, monitoring, and optimization strategies.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Azure Resource Manager templates.
- Apply security best practices across the cloud platform, including identity management, access controls, and compliance monitoring.
- Support the implementation of governance standards, including resource organization, tagging structures, and policy enforcement.
- Use monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to analyze system performance and usage trends.
- Coordinate routine updates, patching, and lifecycle management activities to ensure cloud systems remain stable and secure.
- Implement and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery processes using Azure-native services.
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and application teams to support infrastructure requirements and maintain clear technical documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems, or a related field. Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305 are considered beneficial.
- Approximately three to five years of experience working with public cloud infrastructure, with hands-on administration of Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong understanding of Azure cost management features including budgeting, usage analysis, and financial optimization strategies.
- Experience using automation or scripting tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python.
- Familiarity with Azure security capabilities including role-based access control (RBAC), Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and other governance tools.
- Working knowledge of Azure networking components such as virtual networks, network security groups, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity options.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines supporting cloud-based application deployments.
- Experience contributing to or leading infrastructure initiatives and coordinating with technical stakeholders across teams.
- In depth experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Effective communication and documentation skills, along with strong organization and time management abilities.
