About the Role

We're hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 90-day onsite contract assignment within the Women's Emergency Department at a leading healthcare facility in Providence, Rhode Island.

This role focuses on emergency nursing care, patient coordination, discharge planning, and high-acuity clinical support within a specialized women's emergency care environment. The ideal candidate brings strong emergency department experience combined with Labor, Delivery & Recovery (LDR) expertise and thrives in fast-paced clinical settings.

  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM EST

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $72.07/hour

What You'll Do

Patient Care & Clinical Assessment

  • Implement and monitor individualized patient care plans
  • Assess patient conditions and provide emergency nursing care
  • Respond rapidly to emergent and acute patient situations
  • Monitor patient status and communicate updates appropriately
  • Deliver compassionate care to patients and families during crisis situations

Care Coordination

  • Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care across departments
  • Collaborate closely with:

    • Physicians
    • Midwives
    • Specialty providers
    • Nursing teams
    • Support staff
  • Facilitate consultations and specialty care coordination
  • Support smooth communication throughout the patient care process

Clinical Execution

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered
  • Carry out physician and nursing directives
  • Perform emergency procedures and interventions
  • Monitor patient response to treatment
  • Maintain accurate EPIC documentation and clinical records
  • Provide specialized nursing support within the Women's Emergency Department

Discharge Planning & Patient Education

  • Assess discharge planning needs
  • Coordinate post-care and follow-up arrangements
  • Provide discharge instructions and patient education
  • Support transitions to inpatient, outpatient, or home care settings

Patient Safety & Handling

  • Assist with patient transfers and transportation
  • Follow infection control and patient safety protocols
  • Maintain safe patient handling procedures
  • Support emergency department operational safety standards

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
  • Labor, Delivery & Recovery (LDR) experience required
  • Women's Emergency Room or obstetric nursing experience preferred
  • Traveler or contract nursing experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Rhode Island RN License required
  • Current:

    • BLS Certification
    • PALS Certification
    • ACLS Certification
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • All specialty certifications must remain active and current

Technical Skills

  • EPIC proficiency required
  • Strong EHR and clinical documentation experience
  • Familiarity with emergency department clinical systems and equipment
  • Strong clinical technology skills
