Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing the firms operational strategy, execution, and day-to-day management. This role is critical in ensuring the firms investments align with its green transitioning focus while maintaining operational excellence, scalability, and profitability. The COO will collaborate closely with the CEO, investment teams, and portfolio companies to drive sustainable growth, optimize operational processes, and implement best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
Oversee the firms operations, including deal execution, portfolio management, and investor relations, ensuring alignment with the firms green transitioning investment thesis.
Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and performance across all business functions.
Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and financial planning to support investment and growth objectives.
- Portfolio Company Oversight
Partner with General Partner with his Portfolio to integrate green transitioning principles, such as decarbonization strategies, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices, into their operations.
Drive operational improvements within portfolio companies to maximize value creation and ensure ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals are met.
Monitor and report on portfolio performance, identifying risks and opportunities related to sustainability and financial outcomes.
- Investment Process Optimization
Collaborate with the investment team to streamline due diligence, deal sourcing, and exit strategies, with a focus on green technology and sustainable infrastructure opportunities.
Ensure rigorous evaluation of environmental impact and long-term viability in all investment decisions.
- Sustainability Integration
Champion the firms commitment to green transitioning by embedding ESG metrics and sustainability frameworks into operational and investment processes.
Stay informed on emerging trends, regulations, and innovations in clean energy, climate tech, and sustainable finance to guide strategic decision-making.
- Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between investment, legal, compliance, and administrative teams to ensure seamless execution of firm priorities.
- Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a key liaison with investors, presenting operational updates, ESG performance, and financial results to build trust and transparency.
Represent the firm in industry events, conferences, and partnerships focused on green transitioning and sustainable investing.
Qualifications
- Experience:
8+ years of senior operational leadership experience, preferably within private equity, venture capital, or investment management.
Proven track record of managing operations in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Experience with green transitioning industries (e.g., renewable energy, clean tech, sustainable infrastructure) or ESG-focused investing is highly desirable.
- Skills:
Strong financial acumen with expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and performance optimization.
Deep understanding of private equity investment lifecycles, from sourcing to exit.
Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and align diverse teams around a shared mission.
Knowledge of ESG frameworks, sustainability metrics, and regulatory landscapes related to green investments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Education:
Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
