Job Summary
The Analyst will play a vital role in supporting Caps investment strategy by conducting research, performing financial analysis, and evaluating opportunities within green transitioning sectors. This position requires a blend of analytical rigor, market insight, and a passion for sustainability to identify and assess investments that align with the firms mission. The Analyst will work closely with the investment team to source deals, conduct due diligence, and monitor portfolio performance, contributing to both financial success and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment Analysis
Perform detailed financial modeling, valuation, and scenario analysis for potential investments in green transitioning sectors such as renewable energy, energy storage, and sustainable infrastructure.
Assess the financial viability and growth potential of target companies, incorporating ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) metrics into evaluations.
Prepare investment memos, presentations, and reports for internal review and decision-making processes.
- Market Research
Conduct in-depth research on green transitioning industries, including market trends, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements in clean energy and decarbonization.
Identify emerging opportunities and risks related to regulatory changes, government incentives, and climate policies impacting sustainable investments.
Track industry benchmarks and peer performance to inform investment strategies.
- Due Diligence
Support due diligence efforts by analyzing target companies financials, operations, and sustainability practices.
Evaluate environmental impact, carbon reduction potential, and alignment with Cap green transitioning goals.
Collaborate with legal and operational teams to identify risks and opportunities in deal structures.
- Portfolio Monitoring
Assist in tracking the performance of portfolio companies, analyzing key financial and ESG metrics to ensure alignment with investment objectives.
Provide data-driven insights to support value creation initiatives, such as operational improvements or sustainability enhancements, within portfolio companies.
Prepare periodic updates and reports for internal stakeholders and investors.
- Deal Sourcing Support
Contribute to identifying and screening potential investment opportunities through industry networks, conferences, and market analysis.
Maintain a pipeline of prospects in green transitioning sectors, focusing on innovation and scalability.
- Team Collaboration
Work closely with senior investment professionals, legal staff, and external advisors to execute investment strategies.
Present findings and recommendations to the investment committee with clarity and confidence.
Qualifications
- Experience:
1-3 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, financial analysis, or a related field; prior exposure to green transitioning industries is a plus.
Experience with financial modeling, valuation techniques, and market research preferred.
Familiarity with ESG frameworks or sustainable investing is highly desirable but not required.
- Skills:
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analysis (Excel, VBA, or similar tools).
Strong research and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.
Knowledge of renewable energy, clean tech, or sustainability trends is an advantage.
- Education:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced coursework or certifications (e.g., CFA Level I) are a plus.
