Crisis Support Worker
Job Purpose
- To provide assistance with personal care and other daily living tasks to dependent service users within their own homes.
- To work with each individual service user to maximise their independence and choice.
- To work in partnership with service users encouraging choice, participation and motivation, adhering at all times to the values of the company.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To undertake personal care and daily living tasks as agreed with the service user, their family and professionals involved with the individual service plan.
- Ensure a high standard of personal care, which may include assistance with personal hygiene, washing, dressing etc.
- Provide practical assistance to service users in carrying out everyday tasks to enable them to live as independently and safely as possible, including shopping, cooking, home maintenance.
- Ensure that the service user’s medication is handled, administered and recorded in line with the company’s Medication policy.
- To work at all times adhering to the policies and procedures of the care provider.
- To provide service users with opportunities to express their preference as to the way that care tasks are carried out.
- To develop and maintain professional working relationships with service users and work colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds
- To communicate regularly with the immediate supervisor, in particular regarding changes in the service user’s condition or circumstances.
- To complete documentation, including service user records.
- To maintain and use the call monitoring system by logging in and out of all service users.
Tasks and Expectations
- To attend training, including induction, team meetings and individual supervision sessions as required.
- To undertake additional responsibilities as requested by the Manager following the successful completion of specific training and personal skills development.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
- To comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- To be responsible for maintaining and improving own knowledge and skills through experience and training.
- To always respect the service user’s dignity and rights.
- To understand and comply with the company’s confidentiality policy.
Crisis Specifications
Crisis Care has offices based in Rossendale and it has its own dedicated and specially trained team who manage and support service users and their families who are at the point of crisis in their own home, this may be to prevent a hospital admission or to enable a quicker and smoother hospital discharge.
We are able to provide support from 1 hour up-to 24 hour support for up-to 5 days, this service can be accessed via social services or your GP and District Nurses.
Salary: £9.10 per hour
Experience: 6 months minimum in a care environment
Paid Training: Yes
Travel: Drivers or Walkers - expenses included
Shift Patterns: 8am-8pm • 8am-10pm • 2pm-10pm • 8am-2pm
Hours: PT & FT
Area: Burnley/Accrington/Nelson/Rossendale and surrounding areas
