Senior Financial Advisor
Job Description:
Our client is a fast-growing, independent, and fee-only wealth management firm located in Richmond, VA. They specialize in helping individuals age 50+ plan for and enjoy retirement by integrating investment management, retirement planning, and tax planning into one coordinated strategy. They are looking for an experienced Financial Advisor (CFP®) to serve as a primary advisor in their Richmond, VA office location to a growing roster of client families. This role is designed for a seasoned planner who loves building long-term relationships and helping people navigate retirement with clarity and confidence. This is a client advisory and service role. You'll build lasting relationships with families as they navigate some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
Client-Facing Planning & Relationships
- Serve as the primary advisor for client families, guiding them through retirement income planning, investment management, tax optimization, Social Security timing, Roth conversion analysis, and estate coordination.
- Build deep, lasting relationships grounded in trust, proactive communication, and genuine care for each client's financial well-being.
- Collaborate with our CPA on staff and associate advisors on complex planning situations.
- This is the heart of the role — and the portion of your time dedicated to it grows as your client base grows.
- As you grow your client base, your time naturally shifts toward the client relationships you've built. At full capacity (~100-115 households), the majority of your time is spent serving clients you know well, supported by a steady but smaller flow of new families joining the firm.
Meeting with Prospective Clients
- No cold calling. Prospects come to you.
- Meet with qualified prospects who come to us through our marketing and referral network.
- Learn about their goals, concerns, and financial situation, then walk them through how we work.
- Help determine if we're the right fit for each other — no pressure, no sales tactics.
- Your focus in year one is getting to know people and welcoming the right families into the firm.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development — we're a team that likes to learn.
- Collaborate with fellow advisors, our CPA, and the operations team on complex client situations.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high standards of client care.
