Lead Financial Planner

 Job Description:

Our client is a fee-only independent financial planning firm based on the West Coast that serves women and LGBTQ professionals,  many of whom are tech employees or self-employed. They combine comprehensive financial planning, tax planning, and investment management to help our clients make confident, values-aligned decisions. Their clients tend to be thoughtful, ambitious mid-career professionals in their 30s-50s who want their financial lives to reflect their personal and family values.

They are seeking a Lead Planner who can manage their own client relationships, deliver exceptional advice, and help us continuously improve how we serve our clients. This person will work directly with clients,  leading meetings, delivering plans, coordinating investments, and mentoring more junior team members. You'll also help strengthen our systems and service model as we continue to evolve.

Client Relationships

  • Lead engaging client meetings,  discovery, planning, and annual reviews that deepen trust and clarity.
  • Act as the main point of contact for your clients, anticipating their needs and guiding them through ongoing decisions.
  • Conduct discovery calls with prospective clients; clearly explain our philosophy, how we work, and how we can help.

Financial Planning & Advice

  • Build and maintain comprehensive financial plans in eMoney, covering cash flow, retirement, estate planning, insurance, and other planning areas.
  • Deliver integrated tax planning using Holistiplan, ensuring clients make smart, tax-eficient decisions.
  • Advise on equity compensation, including RSUs and stock options,  helping tech and startup clients manage complexity and opportunity.
  • Facilitate life-planning conversations that connect money to meaning, helping clients align their finances with what matters most.
  • Collaborate closely with tax professionals and other advisors to ensure cohesive, well-rounded recommendations.

Investment Management

  • Monitor portfolios and rebalance proactively to stay aligned with client objectives.
  • Develop investment strategies that align with clients' goals, values, and risk tolerance.
  • Execute trades through iRebal.
  • Partner with operations staff to ensure seamless execution of account management and money movement.

Team & Process Improvement

  • Bring a mindset of continuous improvement, always asking, How can we make this better?
  • Take ownership of identifying and leading initiatives that streamline workflows, integrate technology, and elevate our client service model.

About You

  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in comprehensive financial planning, with direct responsibility for leading client meetings and managing ongoing relationships. You have a strong technical foundation in financial, tax, and investment planning, and you're able to guide clients with clarity and confidence.
  • Credentials: CFP® required or in progress
  • Tools: eMoney, Holistiplan, Schwab Advisor Center, iRebal, Advyzon, ChatGPT, and other AI tools
  • Traits: Proactive, confident, and kind. You're the person clients trust to lead the way, combining technical confidence with genuine empathy. You think ahead, take ownership, and care deeply about doing things well, for both clients and the team.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000 + bonus potential, depending on experience and schedule. Flexibility to work a 75%-100% schedule.
  • Time off: Office closed two weeks per year + two weeks of PTO
  • Schedule: Flexible hours (PST). We care about results, not punching a clock. You'll have the freedom to work when and where you're most productive, as long as you're available for team and client meetings and deliver great work on time. This is a fully remote position.
