About the job QA Lead - Horticulturist

The Junior Horticulturist/Landscape Lead should possess a comprehensive understanding and in-depth knowledge of a wide range of trees and plants, soil types, plant cultivation, and landscape design principles, with primary responsibility of maintaining a variety of landscapes. S/he will collaborate with the senior horticulturists and work with the management team on supervising site operations and project development.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Landscape Management and Monitoring

  • Monthly monitoring of landscapes- compile and analyze remote monitoring data to create regular reports on landscape maintenance activities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for various landscapes.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the operations team to discuss the status of the landscape and future improvements.
  • Regular site visit and preparation of monthly landscape maintenance program for projects covered by the Landscape Management contract.
  • Identify and diagnose pests, diseases, and other issues affecting plant vitality
  • Give effective soil amendment plans for optimizing soil health to support robust plant growth and enhance the overall quality of landscapes.
  • Answer to client inquiries and give proper recommendation based on the specific need of the project

Landscape Audit

  • Conduct once a year landscape audit on managed properties
  • Evaluate overall landscape layout and design.
  • Assess if standard practices and preventive maintenance program are properly implemented.
  • Collect soil pH data and assess soil conditions, including drainage and compaction
  • Generate a detailed Landscape Audit Report to communicate findings effectively and guide the Building/Village Managers / Project Technical Group with necessary improvements for optimal landscape performance.
  • Conduct meetings with management team to monitor landscape close-out progress.

Training and Evaluation

  • Conduct seminars to newly hired employees as part of their orientation and training program.
  • Provides training to various supervisors and crew members in field settings to constantly improve the status of the landscape
  • Conduct performance evaluation of landscape maintenance contractors for projects covered by the Landscape Management contract.

Project Management (For Special Landscaping Projects)

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and specific landscape design requirements
  • Recommend suitable plant species based on environmental conditions, aesthetic goals, and maintenance requirements.
  • Supervise the installation of plants and ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Coordinate with landscape contractors to ensure proper execution of design elements.
  • Ensure that the planting schedule is strictly followed to meet client deadlines.

Landscape Design (Small Scale)

  • Assist in selecting appropriate plant species based on site conditions and client preferences.
  • Create basic layout sketches for planting beds, pathways, and other features under the guidance of senior horticulturist.
  • Estimate costs for materials, labor, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Help prepare presentations, or plant palettes to communicate design ideas to clients and create visual documentation that illustrates design concepts and plant selections
  • Supervise the installation process to ensure adherence to the design plans and ensure that plants are installed correctly and that hardscape features are built to specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Agriculturist-Horticulture.
  • At least 2 years relevant experience in Landscape Maintenance or related field.
  • Willing to do field work.
  • Willing to work onsite at Quezon City.
